TRUST ME! I'M A
SENATOR!
TO quote from the
CD's liner notes, this is the story about how a musical band was
born due to an obscure 30th century detective dog!
In LEGION
OF SUPER-HEROES 29, we get a glimpse of Shrinking Violet's
diary, which claims that when legionnaire, senator and holovid archaeologist
Tenzil Kem met his younger self, the pair of them dueted to the
theme song from (presumably a TV show) "Dan Spaniel, Secret
Pooch". But nothing more was ever heard about this canine hero
of the future.
When APA 247's then central mailer suggested someone
write words to the theme tune, member Rob Rudderham penned not only
the lyric, but a melody as well.
At a UK Legion gathering in 1993 (InterlUK), Rob performed
the song to the fans who turned up, after recruiting fellow musical
APAns Allan Harvey, Jules Langley and Susannah Drazin to form the
outfit Tenzil Kem and the Senators.
Four Legion-related songs were performed, and such
was the reception that the cry went up for a permanent recording
of them.
Some 13 years later, in 2006, the band regrouped to
finally release a CD of the tunes, along with some newly-crafted
ones.

about the group on
his blog, although the Myspace page he mentioned is now
long obsolete.
